What is an E-cig?

An electronic cigarette, e-cig or e-cigarette is an alternative to traditional tobacco-based cigarettes for people who want to stop smoking or those who don’t want others around them to inhale second hand smoke. Electronic cigarettes offer an authentic cigarette sensation but without the smoke, tar and ash and odor produced by traditional tobacco cigarettes. The key to the e-cig technology is the elimination of combustion. Electronic cigarettes do not produce smoke because they don’t burn like traditional cigarettes. They only produce vapor. Most e-cigs have a nicotine liquid inside (in a cartridge) which is atomized into a steam-like vapor that feels looks and satisfies like smoke, but is actually smoke free, tar free, carbon monoxide free and odor free.

Are all Electronic Cigarettes the same?

Not all electronic cigarettes are the same at all. Beware of cheap imitations that will leave you with broken parts, poor vapor production and a bad taste in your mouth.

There are different brands, different styles and ways that they are made. Some companies offer a 2-piece e-cig whilst others still offer the old fashioned 3-piece style which has its disadvantages.

How long do E-cig cartridges last?

Usually, one flavor cartridge is the equivalent to 1 pack of normal tobacco cigarettes. How long your cartridge lasts depends on your smoking style. You will know when a cartridge needs to be replaced when the vapor diminishes and begins to taste a slightly burnt. Simply screw off the old cartridge and replace it with a fresh one.

Can I use E-cigs like V2 Cigs in nonsmoking areas?

Technically you should be able to use e-cigs anywhere. No smoking sections refer to the smoking of tobacco so legally there is no prohibition against these. However, you might have to let people know that you are not smoking tobacco. Even though you are not generating anything remotely like second hand smoke, some might prohibit your e-smoking simply because they disapprove of even the appearance of smoking. Over time, this should become less necessary to explain to people.
